Why Choose Symphony 9 School for Guitar & Drum Lessons?

Symphony 9 School believes music education should help every student Learn, Grow, and Inspire.

Our Guitar & Drums Program combines several important elements:

  • Structured Curriculum

  • Students follow a progressive learning path while developing strong musical skills.

  • Student Interests

  • Students also have opportunities to learn music they personally enjoy, helping lessons remain engaging and meaningful.

  • Individualized Teaching

  • Teachers are trained to adapt lessons to the student's age, ability, goals, interests, and learning needs.

  • Flexible Musical Styles

  • Students can explore different styles of music based on their personal interests and goals.

  • Practice Development

  • Students gradually learn how to practice effectively and become increasingly independent musicians.

  • Performance Opportunities

  • Recitals, exams, Open Studio events, and community performances give students meaningful goals and opportunities to celebrate their progress.

  • Parent Communication

  • Online lesson notes and brief parent updates help families stay involved in the student's musical development.

How does Symphony 9 School teach students to practice?

Our teachers gradually help students become independent musicians.

Young beginners may practice with their teacher during lessons until they understand what successful practice feels like. As students develop, they learn how to practice assignments independently and eventually how to identify problems and figure out how to improve on their own.

The progression is:

Teacher-dependent → Teacher-supported → Student-independent

Our goal is not simply to teach students how to play songs, but to teach them how to continue learning music independently.

How much should students practice guitar or drums?

Beginning students can start with approximately 15 minutes of daily practice.

As students become more advanced, common practice times may increase to 30, 45, or 60 minutes.

However, consistent daily practice is more important than practicing for a long time occasionally.

Teachers also adjust practice expectations based on each student's age, schedule, goals, and current level.

How does Symphony 9 communicate with parents?

Symphony 9 School provides online lesson notes so parents can stay informed about what their child learned and what they should practice.

Teachers also use the final minute of each lesson to update parents directly.

We believe the student, parent, and teacher should work together as a team to help every student succeed.

What is the goal of the Guitar & Drums Program?

Our goal goes beyond teaching students how to play individual songs.

We want students to develop the skills, confidence, and independence to become musicians who can continue learning and enjoying music throughout their lives.

Our philosophy can be summarized as:

Learn → Grow → Inspire

Students learn musical skills, grow in independence and confidence, and ultimately develop a lifelong connection with music.
